Overview
Role: Design Director, Lead Designer & Project Manager
Objective: Create an elevated experience in which customers can design their own couture handbag and get a makeover.
Solution: Study high end luxury boutiques, classic elegance and modern designer retail expressions. Bring an elevated sense of glamor to a toy store, but ensure the shop is still inviting and whimsical. Use a freestanding facade to create a sense of separated space so customers can step into another world.
Translucent panels in the facade allow light to come through so the area feels open, even when it is full and busy. Gold accents, marquee bulbs and flat panel wainscoting create a posh, but approachable aesthetic. The flooring was inspired by the palace of Versailles and has signature branding within it.
Design
I created the design for this project including 2D sketches, 3D models, materials selection, makeup tray accessories, props and graphics. In collaboration with the store, I ironed out the flow of customers and fixtures for the experiences to function. I coordinated and project managed the build out and in-store installation.
